ARTICLE: NCC UNIFORM AND MYSELF NCC

“National cadet Corps” being a cadet was my dream since 2nd standard, when I saw my seniors being a cadet. It was a dream come true in standard 8 when I was selected as one of the NCC cadet. It was a week before my first event in NCC at parade ground in Bangalore. I took out my new NCC uniform along with accessories. My whole family was sitting around and was excited to see me wearing the uniform along with the accessories. It is a known fact that a cadet must be in a proper dress code.

NCC uniform comes in three colours, they are khaki, white, light blue, grey. Army cadets wear khaki uniform, Naval cadets wear white uniform and Air Force cadets wear light blue uniform. My uniform colour is khaki, with black shoe and socks. I started arranging my accessories with few help from my teacher and parents. The cap is called Barret, a Hackle must be fixed to the barret in such a pattern that it should be in L – shape.
There should be two fingers gap between our eye brows and barret. Next comes the Name Plate, it should be worn opposite to the Line Yard. Line Yard must be put inside the buckle given on the back of the shirt on left side . Name Plate must be above the right pocket in a straight line. The shirt must be tucked in exhibiting only three buttons .NCC logo on the belt must be in a straight line along with the shirt buttons. Now comes the title shoulder which must be worn on both arms. After following all these instruction,

I started wearing my uniform two hours before the event though I took the help of my mother for the first time, I was confident enough that I will wear it myself from next time .I reached the parade ground on time. Though there had been few training classes about drill, shooting skills, physical fitness, map reading this was my first outdoor class. There were many events like cleaning, paying tribute to our soldiers which was done under the leadership of Deputy General. Their speech was very motivational and made me thank my school for encouraging students to enroll in NCC. All went on well also I received a compliment from my ANO for wearing uniform properly. This was my first and best experience, as an NCC cadet.

FIRE CONTROL ORDER IN NCC

TOPIC: FIRE CONTROL ORDERS (FCO) IN NCC A fire control order is given so that the soldier can recognize the target and fire at it effectively. It is important that the cadet knows how to react to the fire control order sequence. A fire control order is given in a definite sequence.  The mnemonic 'GRIT' will help in remembering the sequence:  1. GROUP. This indicates who is being addressed, "Section", "Fire Team" (Charlie or Delta), "No. 2 Rifleman", etc.  2. RANGE. This indicates the distance to the target.  3. INDICATION. This indicates in which direction to look and what to look for.  4. TYPE of FIRE. This indicates what type of fire is required, Deliberate, Rapid or Bursts. The order is completed with the command "Fire". There are five basic types of fire control orders to cater for battle situations:  1. FULL. This is given if there is sufficient time: "Charlie Fire Team - 300 ruined house - bottom left corner - Fire".  2. ...
